How to sort or filter emails in New Outlook
To sort emails in Outlook for Windows or Outlook
on the web, select the Filter button at the top of your message
list. From there, choose Sort and select your preferred sorting method,
such as Date, From, Size, or Importance. You can
also change the sort order, such as displaying the newest messages first or
sorting alphabetically.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Select
the folder you want to sort.
- Click
the Filter icon at the top of the message list.

- Scroll
down to Sort to view the available sorting options.
- Under
the Sort by icon, select the field you want to use for sorting your
emails (for example, Date, From, Size, or Importance).

- Under Sort order,
choose how you want the emails displayed (for example, Newest on top
or Oldest on top).
Note: Sorting is applied only to the folder you are
currently viewing. Different folders can have different sorting preferences.
